In honor of the season. I just got back from a rehearsal of the Syracuse Community Choir, where we practiced this song by my dear friend Charlie King, a folksinger who lives in Shelburne Falls, MA.
SO MAY WE ALL
Charlie King
The trees are shaking out their crazy quilt
The dappled splash of autumn's paint-pot spilt
Rave in rainbow glory delighting in diversity
So may we all, so may we all,
Feel the rhythm of the earth with all things great and small, so may we all.
The rain that falls so soft and strong,
Peaceful and generous and warm,
Works its wonders,
Lays itself so gently down,
So may we all.
So may we all, so may we all,
Feel the rhythm of the earth with all things great and small, so may we all.
The roots lie silent in the frozen earth below
Life's quiet sleep against a shroud of winter snow,
Watching for the moment to break out for the sun.
So may we all.
So may we all, so may we all,
Feel the rhythm of the earth with all things great and small, so may we all.
